I can categorically state that the only party that benefits from lease deal is the Dealer. Lease out for the 2 years thus collecting mad fees and sell at a premium 2 years later whilst buyer is out of pocket, nothing to show for it or rolled on to another MUG contract.

If i were you i would save up the monthly premium for two years and the buy the car outright when it is 2 years old ( let another MUG pay the 2 years of depreciation fees)

Can you "categorically" show where the dealer benefits the most? For example, what profit does the dealer achieve out of every deal, above what they would, if it was hire purchase or cash, for example?

We've been leasing cars(new one every 3yrs) for the past 9 years & with not having to worry about servicing, tyres, tax etc, it't been good for us.
Only problem we have now is the company we are with has stopped doing personal leasing(only found out when I rang to enquire about new car) nice of them to let us know!!!! so now need to find another reliable company in the next few weeks, not easy with so many out there, any recommendations anyone???

Most manufacturer based lease companies do personal leasing nowadays.

Everyone seems to have a different leasing experience to relate, but mine was an absolute nightmare.
I leased a Chrysler Grand Voyager for £495 per month (25K miles p.a., no servicing included)) for three years and had the option of paying a final amount of £12,500 to own it. As I neede something a bit smaller and cheaper, I decided to return it and got stung by Mercedes Benz Finance to the tune of £965 to tidy up some small scratches, which I had already paid Chips Away to remove.
This, to my mind, is a con not worthy of Mercedesand one which has put me off leasing (and Mercedes) for life. I have never felt more ripped off.
So despite some of the enthusiastic advocates for Leasing on this forum, I would warn you that you MAY be ripped off too, so don't take the chance. I bought a 3 year old BMW about 4 months ago for less than £8K and providing it doesn't blow up in the next 12 months it will prove a much better investment.
Avoid Leasing at all costs unless you like an expensive gamble...

Not wanting to pick holes, but if Chips Away had left the scratches visible, they didn't do a very good job. So, perhaps your anger should be with Chips Away, as much as Mercedes.

£495 a month isn't a bad deal either for a thirty thousand pound car.

If you dont mind - can you share the name of the car and model of the car you leased ( it will help my next post) . As this site's aim is to save people money. honestly, 16k is a lot money to throw away over 3 years - no offence.

Surely it's all relative? My lease is £714 per month or £27132 over three years and is a huge amount of money but it got me the car I work hard to have and at the cheapest price. All other options I looked at were more expensive.

To me money saving isn't about not spending money, it's about getting what you want as cheaply as possible.
