In its infinite wisdom, because one part of webpage is not available then the computer does a handy search for similar pages.
I've had a look in the control panel and there's a program called
"SearchAssist" and another called "URLAssisant". Is it one of these?
This page is meant to provide you with helpful related content, including web search results and paid advertisements, based on the meaning of the web address/keyword query that you typed. This program can be uninstalled from the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs. Look for the application named "Browser Address Error Redirector". Older versions may be called "GoogleAFE".

I seem to have fixed it by unistalling all Google software.Happy chappy0 -
I had to disable "Dell network assistant" as every time it ran,it would knock my modem off,and put on their inbuilt modem on,and i have just uninstalled "Dell Media Experience" as that keeps looking for a disc, that i havnt got,and am still waiting for Dell to send me the 5 discs i need to get that program working,so in the end i uninstalled it.
But after all that i much prefer this Dell computer,to the Packard Bell one i did have .0 -
Yes, I've spent an hour uninstalling things including McAffee that wouldn't shut up, so I could then install the security I wanted. Machine is loaded with stuff that needs clearing off!
Having said that, the machine is up and running now and it claims a 8.1MB/s connection speed.Happy chappy0 -
tomstickland,Oh i forgot about McAffee ,i got rid off that bloated program as well.but i had to use it to start with to get a decent firewall and anti virus .But i am on Aol and i know they will think i am still using it and add it on to my bill ! They have done that before, when i first tried it ages ago,i uninstalled it,after a day ,then Aol thought i must still have it and was charging me nearly £4 a month extra for it !0

You might try using PC-Decrapifier, which seems to automate the Add/Remove Programs facility. Select the programs you wish to remove, and watch it carefully.
