Car Mileage clock

I dont know if i am posting in the right forum.

I bought a used car back in the January 2011 from a private seller when bought, the mileage was 82000 on the clock.

I put that on sale last week and get the MOT done and find out that in 1997 this car mileage was 170,000 and in 2008 it was clocked back to 72000 and in 2009 it was 78,000 and now it has 87000 on the clock.

I am very worried because i am trying to sell this car, i got to know about this last week when i done the mot.

Please advice me what to do now, should i inform DVLA or anyone ?

Thanks

Change the advert to the real mileage & go back to the seller, cos he ripped you off

This may give you the difference in cost, enter the car and other details

The example car shows a difference in the value of £8300 on the figures you posted

I don't see how this forum can help. I suggest the following:

Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.

If the car had an issue with the engine or had parts of the dashbord replaced (including the mileage counter) then the log/repair history book for the car is usually endorsed by the garage with the final reading on the old Counter clearly marked and the date the new counter was installed. (well that's what my local garage did.)

If not, then it sounds a bit dodgy.

Try sending the registration one of those "SMS car history" services to see if theirs any history with the car. You never know!
