DV camcorder playback

My daughter has brought over her DV tapes taken on her JVC camcorder bought and used in Australia, they play back through mine a Canon DV MV 700 but with grey bars running across the picture a bit like a venetian blind, does anyone know if the Oz system is the same as the uk system as I think there might be a compatability problem.

I am sure they will play ok on the camera. Mine is doing the same at the moment, fortunately my camera tells me the heads need cleaning, just like a normal video recorder. havent had a chance to buy a head cleaning tape yet though.

Im sure thats if you playback through a tv, i would have thought that view from the camcorders own lcd if it has one would be ok, the other way would be to import it on to a pc and burn a region free disk to watch it with the appropriate software
