Air conditioning

Hi, I am currently living in Paphos for a few months (I come back to the UK for August to escape the heat)
The aircon in my villa is not that cold and only seems to go down to 18 degrees C.
Does anyone know if this is normal, or do I need to get it checked out?

18c!! What temperature do you want your room to be? I would have thought that getting it down to around 22c would be about right. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

It's boiling over here at the moment, so I thought the aircon would go cooler.
It says 18 degrees C on the remote control, so this must be the minimum temp.
I don't have it on all the time, I just switch it on for 10 mins here and there0 -
I see, does the remote also read the actual room temperature or just the setting. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

The remote will read the desired temp.
For you air con to work efficiently and well it is all about keeping the are being cooled well sealed...Bit like a fridge.
Make sure you don't leave doors open and windows close properly ..Double glazing would help ..Just like keeping heat in ..If the single peice of glass or the frame is 35 degrees then that heat will be trying to warm the air next to it.
The other thing about air con ..Just like heating is ,the bigger the area you try and cool the more you will need.one wall air con will only really do the one room....So keep the door closed.0 -

Do the units " Blow cold "
If you put your hand right up to the unit is the air chilled ..Even better get a thermometer and see what temp it is blowing out.
Make sure it is not set on fan only.
and if you haven't cleaned the filters , that might help.
It is usually not the gas in home air conditioners.0 -
Yes the units blow cold. I'll try and get hold of a thermometer
Thanks for all of the replies :T0
