Don't give your employer your personal phone numbers.
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

May be right? Then the employer would need to communicate via the written word

It is quite simple. Ring the boss, say you are sick and if he lets off one swear word, tell him 'another swear word, and I will put the phone down on you'. And then do it. OK, it takes some brass, but it is your phone, and you paid for the call.

I suspect that the OP's real problem here is not that "it isn't right", but that there is very little that he can do about it. People tend to think that bullying is against the law - it isn't, unless it is directly connected to a form of unlawful discrimination. So is it normal? Well of course not. Is it allowed though? Well, it is pretty hard to think of something that can be done to "not allow it". Is this person a manager in a bigger business, or the boss of a small one. Because if the former , is there a higher manager who might intervene? Unfortunately, that may not, though, be a risk free method of dealing with this, because if the company won't protect you, rocking the boat may get you dismissed, and if the manager is clever enough they will find a way of doing it fairly. The same is true of telling the boss that you will hang up on them - it may be tempting but it may also be risky. In the absence of the most obvious solution (find a better job!) I can't really suggest any other options than complain, or just accept it until you can get out. Of course, you could try just putting the phone down (not hanging up) and letting him rant to his hearts content, and if he says anything say that you were so ill that you passed out!

Fine. Or provide a company phone.
