Buildings insurance on rental properties

Can anyone recommend cheap building insurance for rental properties? I have been obtaining quotes and they are fairly high. I'd like the cheapest I can get and wondered if anyone could recommend a company.
Many thanks.

I used alanboswell.com. Cheaper than anyone else around and their claims department came recommended.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Try Halifax Insurance - cheap as chips. Don't take the optional Legal Expenses policy though 'cos the provider is useless !!0

Try http://www.household-insurance-services.co.uk/landlord.htm as these gave me a cheap quote.0

I use HFIS, cheapest by far for me. Chopped my insurance bill in half 3 years ago and still cheaper than most, mind you I was insuring with Norwich Union when they cut my bill dramatically.
Do not only concente on price though, I would get recommendations on how the insurers are in the event a claim. I had the misfortune to have one of my properties seriously damaged by fire earlier this year, it totally gutted the place (no one hurt thankfully) and they settled my claim within 5 weeks. They had an insurance assessor on site within 24 hours and couldn't have been more helpful. This was not a cheap claim and I expected them to quibble but it went through easily. The last thing you need when dealing with something as stressful as serious damage to a property is an insurance company that is fighting against you.0
