Dog sick 7 hours after worming - need to repeat dose?

I wormed my 10 month old pug yesterday for the first time since I got him (10 weeks ago). I used Drontal plus and gave it to him with his dinner at 7pm. Afterwards he seemed fine, but at 1.30am I woke to him throwing up outside my bedroom door.

He's full of beans now and I've just given him half of his usual breakfast to check if it stays down.

So 1) I am assuming it was the wormer (we also used Frontline Spot On yeterday on his neck but he couldn't have licked it and I assume that wouldn't make him sick) and 2) do we need to repeat the dose using something else, or will enough of it have been absorbed after 7 hours?

Also, can anyone suggest an alternative to use next time? He's a pug and weighs 8.8kg.

Thanks

I think the liquid ones are better on dogs, i wouldnt worry to much if he is back to normal now and as long as he is drinking plenty of water then there should be no problem, normaly the doses of these last between 1-3 months so I would say that the dose should be ok that was given and leave it until the next ones due, if he is sick the next time try cutting the food to a bare minimum until a few hours after giving him the dose, it worked on my dog, but if it still persists then I would say go to the vet and seek there advice.

the fact that he vomited suggests that the wormer was doing the job it was ment to do.
the wormers dont last 1-3 months i afraid, they only last the day it takes to pass through the system. repeated doses are to prevent the worms becoming a burden.

Oh right! I've never seen any worms in his poop nor were there any visible in what came up last night (although it was 2am and I was just trying to clean the carpet up as quickly as possible!). He's pooped fine this morning and OH had nothing unusual to report about it!

Most straightfwd oral dosage forms will have passed through a human stomach within 7 hrs, and I would assume GI transit in a dog would be shorter. As Waterfalls alluded to, you have to keep checking for evidence...
