I'm in South East Wales. I've never been to Newquay -- public transport from South East Wales to West Wales (Newquay counts as "West") is poor. It is though, I've heard, beautiful. You should visit Aberystwyth while you're there.

Thanks, I have said I will google S.W. and find as many places to visit that we can.

Tenby is reasonably near Newquay, and is beautiful. St David's is supposed to be, too.

Thanks again, I am really starting to look forward to it.

How is the weather? Would be nice if it is warm and sunny when we go.

To answer the OPs question, you can only get a free eye test if you're within 28 days of your recall date, if you present for a sight test before then you will be charged unless there is a clinical need for a sight test. Clinical needs include a diagnosis of diabetes since your last eye test; flashes, floaters or pain in your eye; a review requested by a hospital post cataract surgery or a significant clinical change in your prescription.

Why not just register at an opticians near your uni and get your eye test at the correct time?

It's variable here now, warm and sunny in the mornings, grey in the afternoons. I think probably we're going to have storms, then cooler weather, then more sun... .

Guess this makes sense. Guess I am just a bit too keen. lol

Do you know if I could get contact lenses on my current prescription, because I don't think I would need an eye test then?

If your contact lens prescription is still valid then yes, you can buy lenses with it. Contact lens prescriptions only last for the maximum of one year and contact lens checks are not free on the NHS though most companies do free contact lens checks for people who regularly buy lenses from them.

Sorry to drag up an old question but I really have to get an eye test. I have always needed glasses and since it has been almost 4 years from my last test I know about that part.

What I want to ask about it how do you go about receiving the vouchers towards glasses? There is no way I can pay for them at the moment and looking at the leaflet for scotland I am definately entitled to it but I'm not sure how I go about receiving it or knowing how much it may be. Does anyone have any idea?

    Thankyou.
