I don't see how they are helping the environment, when they burst everywhere! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Sadly they only sell semi-skimmed in Tescos :( Sainsbury's do all their milk in bags.

Never had one burst. They help the environment because they use less plastic which requires less energy to transport (as well as to produce of course). My council does recycle them and what's really good is they take up a lot less room in the bin than the bottles

incorrect, you must have the jug that ends 142, it dosent matter if you buy the milk or not. the bar code MUST end 142

Oh well I'm just going by what the team leader said. Even better if you just need the correct bar code :)
Still looking for the plot...... Anyone seen it???

Never had one burst either! Also find that they take up less fridge space, and as we use a LOT of milk in our house, this is helpful. The bags stack neatly on the shelf and the jug sits in the door. So far, so good :)

We bought 4 bags and 4 jugs last week because the emloyee in the isle said the jugs were 1p if you bought a bag, at the till they were £1, we argued but no dice so we left 2 of the jugs behind.

Next morning we awoke to a pond of milk in the bottom of the fridge because one of the bags had a slow leak.

Never again. Thank you Tesco but just.... no.

We bought a jug and a couple of bags the other day - thought this was quiet a novel idea, help the environment etc. Jug cost £1 and the bags of milk £0.50 each.

Am I right in saying that the bags don't normally cost 50p each though? I.e. this was an introductory offer? If so, don't know how keen we will be to continue buying them, if they cost significantly more than 50p.

    Nice idea though :)

yes intro offer, they will be around the same price as the normal plastic bottles.

and you dont need to buy 4 jugs, just one will do, it can be washed!

Thanks. Yeah we got just the one jug. I'm not really sure what we will do when the price goes back up - I do like the idea of having less milk cartons filling up the recycling box.

A quick question - do you put the bag in the jug and use it that way or do you empty the contents of the bag into the jug?

I ask because we use both full fat and semi skimmed in our house, and was just wondering how you'd identify which is which.:p

  • You don't empty the milk into the jug, just put the bag in then the spout will pierce it letting the milk through hth :)
