As the title says can I pay my credit card balance off using someone else's credit card? ie: transfer the balance from my card to theirs?
It would be from a Lloyds card to a Tesco card.
Thanks

Thank you, I don't know how straightforward it would be as I don't really know the person who would be paying it off. Its a bit of a story but not as dodgy as it sounds!0 -
Not difficult at all.
1/ The person whos Tesco card it is, rings Tesco and says I would like to do a balance transfer.
2/ They give Tesco your card details, (number and expiry date usually).
3/ In a few days, your card balance will be reduced by whatever they transfer and their Tesco card balance will now have the money from your card on its balance plus a small one off fee that companies card normally charge which is normally around 3%.
4/ Assuming the Tesco card has 0% for balance transfers for a certain period, then they have xx amount of months to pay it off without interest as long as they make at least the minimum payment.
Now at any time after the balance is transferred, you could say thanks for that, bye, it's your debt now, I'm off on holiday now I don't owe a penny to Lloyds and I'm not paying you a penny. Or you arrange to pay them back monthly till it's paid off.0 -
so just to confirm if I want to transfer the balance of someone elses credit card onto my credit card I just have to put the account numbers into the balance transfer? Does it matter if the account to transfer from is not in my name?0

Wiggy - If you ask the bank if you can do it they will probably say no. The best option is to go online and do the BT online - just enter that person's card number. What card do you have? do you have online access to the account?
One thing you cannot do is transfer between 2 cards from the same provider. So you cannot transfer the other perons' virgin card on to your MBNA card, or their barclaycard to your barclaycard.
As an aside you do realise you will become legally responsible for the debt you put on your card (and if they don't repay you there will be little you can do).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
