Pull Switch Light is stuck..

Hi...our bathroom light pull switch decided to break last night, and seeing as the head gasket on the car went yesterday, and....oh, its Christmas, I really can't afford to have to get an electrician in just so I can turn the light off!!!

Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to replace the pull switch unit....I don't know much about wiring etc, but I have successfully replaced a light fitting in the past, so not a complete novice!

Thanks, in advance

It is pretty easy to do a bathroom light switch, a couple of screws and a couple of wires. Its worth checking that the cord hasn't got snagged first, might save you having to replace the whole unit, though they are only a few pounds complete.
  • Whole new switch with new clean string is £2-3 from DIY shed.

Turn the power off and then unscrew the switch cover.

Take a digicam pic of "how it is now" and then unscrew the wires.

simple 2-screw replacement of the base and then re-connect the wires.

    15 mins tops (and legal).
