LL wants us to pay for radiator repair

if a rad was so poorly fixed that a cd, in a case or not, caused it to fall off the wall, it would have fallen off ages ago
i my experience radiators fall off walls because people sit on them, or stand on them to to open windows....
there has to be more to this story than we are being told
It sounds unbelievable indeed, but it really fell off when the CD (in a case) fell on it. I was absolutely shocked as well.0 -
I think you're going to have a problem if the LL does decide to charge you for it / take it out of your deposit.
LL to arbitration scheme: The radiator was just fine until T moved in.
T's response: It fell off when I dropped a CD on it.
Arbitration scheme: Reeeally. Hmmm.....
On balance, LL's story sounds *far* more likely than yours. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that civil disputes work on a "balance of probability" basis - and as you accept, the CD explanation does stretch credulity a bit!0 -
Quite frankly I would not believe the OP's story so I can hardly blame the LL for not either. As others have said... radiators don't just fall off on their own and certainly not when a CD falls on them!If you feel my comments are helpful then I'd love it if you 'Thanked' me!0

Oh Pleeeeeeeeease OP....you really are just embarrassing yourself!
A CD is not even the weight of a news pape,r stop being ridiculous!0 -
So unplausable you have to believe it!0

Here are some pictures, the first 2 are of the connection of the radiator, the other 2 are of the wall.

Quite clear it was poorly fitted IMO.
And if you don't believe me, why would I make up a story like this and post it on here? I've seen with my own eyes what happened and i was absolutely shocked.0 -
Ayelet, you have to agree that it's a little tough for people to accept - as you say, you've seen it with your own eyes and you were shocked.
I'm trying to take it seriously enough to write a decent reply and frankly, with all due respect, I'm struggling. I don't mean any disrespect by that, it's just a tough one to get to grips with. But in a world where the awful noise made by the likes of Bruno Mars and the Black Eyed Peas is considered by some to actually be music I suppose anything can happen.
Any dispute with the LL is going to end up with the same credibility gap you're having here, I'm sure you can appreciate that. I can see any dispute over taking it out of your deposit is going to end up pretty much as Annisele suggests.
Aside from anything else, for it to happen the way you mention the damn thing must have pretty much been hanging off the wall anyway, which would beg the question of whether or not you did something previously to damage it and/or whether or not you should have noticed it being insecure previously and reported it.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
looking at the pictures it looks like its been hung poorly
it looks like rawl plugs havent been drilled far enough so screws havent gone in properly
i may be wrong???
if this is the case then the LL should fix imho0 -
Probably coincidence that it fell away as the same time as the CD hit it.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
-
As can be seen in the pictures it was indeed poorly fitted so it was just waiting for it to fall down. Maybe the radiator was not far of from falling down already and this was just the final little push.
The LL can't blame me for this happening.0
