When do you pay for call when ringing companies?

Hi,

As I have been on hold with First Choice 0844 number now for 48 minutes, it has made me wonder............am I paying for this?? Chose my option (unfortuntely there wasn't one for annoyed customers whose flights have been changed and who cannot get a reply!!) and listening to music. Am i paying??

    If you got a response and are listening to music on hold, yes your paying as much as 5p a minute possibly more.

    48 minutes at a minimum of 5.105p/minute (the per minute charge for calling g6 rate 0844 561 numbers from a BT line) - you'd paid £2.50 by the time you posted.

    If you were calling from a Virgin Media line, double that.
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Oh no. I've been holding for a total of 3 hours today........on a Sky line!!!! Still haven't got through. God knows how much it has cost me then...not happy at all. Checked the link above and found a land line (note to self - look before you ring in future). Thanks for your help.
