I always make sure I get myself something with any money I get. So far I have £30 cash and £25 debenhams and will use that for the sales.

Bit of hassle with TV I was supposed to be getting from parents so it's going to be a cheque instead. I've asked if it's ok for it to go in to my savings towards my kitchen and they don't mind. I might also buy myself something little out of the money. Even though I could just about clear my card with it I just wouldn't feel right.

Why don't you treat youself to a takeaway or a nice meal and put the rest to debt?

My eldest sons birthday is today. I have 3 children. My mother gave them £50 each for Christmas £60 for my husband and I and £30 for eldests birthday. She is a pensioner we have a 65k income.
With children in full agreement we have bought small and wanted gifts for all from the money and will return the rest. it is sad that people feel the need to give so much more than they can afford when often the smallest things have the most value.
Fro the other cards recieved the children will put 60% into thier 'savings' acount (long term) and 40% in to thier 'current' accounts for what they want to buy when they want to buy it.....

I would say spend half on whatever you feel like and put half to debts. Thats a good compromise I think.

Personally when I get money given me and I don't know what to do with it I save it and do a big food shop.

Making sure I have a full freezer and cupboards means that I can pay more money to paying off debts out of my own cash.
