H&L Online share trade question

If you trade a share online with H&L, is the trade done immediately and do you get a confirmation that the trade has been done ?

Comments

  • It gives one the opportunity to accept the price that is offered (around fifteen seconds) and then if one accepts, it excecutes immediately. Confirmation is given immediately and will show on your online statement.

I can confirm that the trade is done immediately and confirmation is given both onscreen and with a printable pdf document added to your transaction history. You can also use the sale proceeds immediately without waiting for the settlement date.

If a limit order is placed then a trade will not occur unless and until that price is reached. Also, less liquid securities may not trade immediately: they may trade under what is termed 'periodic auction', which is designed to concentrate liquidity at fixed points during the day so that there is an increased chance that a buyer can be matched with a seller.
Living for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.
It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.
Portfolios are like personalities - one that is balanced is usually preferable.

Assuming this thread is about Hargreaves Lansdown, they don't offer limit orders, stop loss etc so this post is superfluous.
