As far as Im aware guys the OP isnt bankrupt at the moment so the money is his to do as he wishes. Its savings and he is not abusing a credit card etc. If he wished to buy someone a gift then that is his prerogative. Its nothing to do with the OR. Once he has been made bankrupt this is obviously a different matter. As in my OP, you dont have to say youve actually bought a vehicle, you could say you were suffering from stress and had to get away for a week. Lifes too short.0

some people do make me laugh in life. Look for whatever reason, be it your own fault, misfortune or a mixture of both, people commenting here are or have been in a financial mess. The fact the OR is in charge of your finances for a period, doesnt make him God and nor does it make him right in every decison. If the guy in the OP needs a vehicle to see his children and there is some doubt whether the OR will let him have one, I personally would say screw the OR and find a way around it. Lifes too short to stress about the smaller details. As I mentioned, if you withdrew the cash, bought a car in someone elses name, but told the OR (if asked) that stress over the financial problems had bought on depression and you had to get away for a week. You backed this up by having evidence of visiting the doctor, what exactly is he or can he do, absolutely nothing. Its a game, play it or you'll forever be one of lifes also rans.0

sorry if im wrong here but isnt it a case of if the or found out the op would be in bother?
i have a bike that im spending days in tears about and very depressed. i was told sell it and dont tell the or. but then the is told me when i enquired annoymosly about it that if, or found out id done that and they decided it was worth more than i had sold it for, they would just claim it back.
therefore if you buy a car dont declare it and they find out they will just take it anyway? i dont know how they find out but surely the stress of hiding the fact would just be not worth it.
oh and going to the gp saying your depressed if your not really is not on. i suffer from clinical depression and its horrible and annoys me when people suggest they are depressed when they are not.
op,id do the honest thing and do what youve said in post 31,good luckbsc 347:j0 -
Mandy, this is exactly my point, you really shouldnt be 'crying for days' over a bike. ORs are simply paper chasers who are under staffed and under pressure. They certainly arent modern day Columbos's. Lifes about choices and if one is that you have to do something that will enable you to see your kids, you just do it. Also dont think Im belittling your condition. I was a successful businessman before stress induced serious panic attacks which culminated in me losing everything and becoming bankrupt. Ive got over these now, as you will and lifes great again. Business is booming and I now have releases rather than just working 24/7.
I also get hacked off with how all bankrupts tend to get lumped together, for every person who just abused the system and ripped off their lenders in pursuit of the 'want it now culture' there are others who were just as much a victim as their creditors. Im certainly not going to be treated like a criminal or a second class citizen because of circumstance. If someone doesnt like that, its their issue, OR or not.0 -
thing is you cant help it, rightly or wrongly its not just a bike ,for me its my lifeline . also theres the fact i hung onto it through thick and thin for 3yrs since ex left. dont wanna go into it all again plus its not about me but the op.
i still think honesty is best but thats only my opinion. sorry wasnt suggesting anyone was belittling the condition you just get fed up with some people saying oh im depressed when ,its more likely they are just having a bad day.bsc 347:j0 -
Yes . okay the OP buys a car in someone else's name and what tells the OR he has use of it . For what exactly?. The OR might then let him have a bit of fuel money.
The main issue is not owning the car but whether the OR will let you have allowances against it. Under the old system when you could have up to a £99 spare, but now with no spare where is the money to run the car going to come from.0 -
If hte OP says he has use of it then the OR may look into the vehicle a little more, including writing to the registered keeper to ask if they own the car. What do they then do? Lie?
Worms and cans spring to mind if you start trying to hide things from the OR.When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

You wouldnt even mention it though, why would you, its nothing to do with you. If someone chooses to lend you a car in the future that isnt their concern either. Im sure theres plenty of places you can divert fuel money from.0
