Was given a tumble dryer yesterday in working order but no vent hose was attached. I will need to get one but can I use the dryer without it in the meantime?

Yes as long as you have the vent facing an open door or use it outside. Bear in mind that the several litres of water has to go somewhere.

Oh brilliant, open door not a problem. Thank you
At least I can dry the mountain of clothes I washed knowing I was getting a dryer lol

Tumble dryers do use a lot of electricity so don't run it any longer than you absolutely have to. Squeezing the last few drops out can be expensive.0

Yes it is quite safe to use but the room will get very steamy very quickly. A hose is only a pound or two and easily and widely available.
I have a couple of spare hoses. You can have one if you live near Weybridge, NW Surrey.
Carefully check the wiring, plug and fuse etc before you plug it in. The same applies to any new or second hand electrical item.0 -
Thanks very much for the offer but I live in Bristol. Will go out and search for a hose tomorrow as have finished all my Christmas stuff. My step dad said to try B&Q but I was thinking more like a little shop that reconditions washing machines and dryers etc might be more likely to have a hose.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

B&Q does have them - any DIY shop is likely to. They're pretty much universal fit - you just screw the holder into the hole. You'll probably find that there's a hole at the front and one at the back; usually one's covered by a panel, so check your instructions and use the one that's more convenient for you.0
