Car tax refund

I have just been to order a new car and the dealer said that I can't claim a refund of any of the road tax that I currently have (I got twelve months worth in March), because the previous car (that I'm selling although was brand new in March) says "nil" on the tax disc??

Is he right or wrong?

NIL = means you will get a refund of erm, nothing. Is it taxed disabled?

On some low emission cars the dealer can tax it for the first twelve months free of charge even though it might cost you £110 to tax it in the second year. At the other end of the scale a car that might cost you £200+ to tax would cost the dealer over £400 to tax for the first year, some people call this a showroom tax.
