Here is a link to my post regarding glass in pie.

What's really annoyed me is they haven't bother to respond over 48 hours since I contacted them about it.
Looks like I'll never get a refund either, as the girl on CS said I would have to return it to them (not environmental health) for my refund.
I was staggered when the environmental health told me they were still waiting for a response from Tesco. That was yesterday about 5pm, they may have responded to them today.

In all fairness to them it must be manic at the moment with the amount of Christmas turn over, I'm sure they'll get on to your case eventaully.0

Sorry to say, Kim, but your attitude throughout this has done you no favours at all. It's one thing to be concerned about the consequences of glass in foodstuffs. Another to turn that concern into an instant crusade up to and including a newspaper photo-call.
The glass should not have been there. But Tesco didn't put it there. It happened in a supplier's manufacturing process. And it might not be an isolated case.
Surely, your commonsense would've told you that in those circumstances, you need to work with Tesco, and your local Council's Environmental Health department, rather than giving every appearance of being an Avenging Angel.
Ironically, all you've managed to achieve is extend, rather than shorten, the post-discovery process by setting alarm bells off at Tesco corporate level -- not only about the glass, but about the publicity you've decided to generate. Result of that is that inter departmental memos involving everyone from Tesco supplier liaison to Tesco legal to Tesco External Affairs are now flying around, all of which have to be pulled together by some poor sod, somewhere in the company, so as to stop a major PR disaster from occurring.
No wonder Tesco haven't come back to you.
And no wonder, either, that Environmental Health haven't yet heard back from them, because Tesco's supplier will now be aware that this incident has made it into the Press, and they'll be ultra careful about checking, re-checking, and re-re-re-checking every aspect of the production process, and production history, of the item to which your concern relates before they commit one word to paper.
Sadly, as a textbook example of how not to handle a consumer issue of legitimate concern, yours is some way ahead of the field.0 -
I refused to be in the paper, I have no wish to grab "15 mins of fame". The photo & story is of the glass & pie.
Why shouldn't people know that there has been glass found in a Tesco pie (it was a Tesco own brand product)? I'm glad it was my husband who found it, I dread to think what would have happened if a child had been served it.
Tesco have at last responded by email, after nearly 3 days. They would like me to return it to them. I don't know what part of the environmental health contacting them as it being in their hands now, that they fail to understand.0 -
I found a big chunk of black rubber in my first ever jar of Cow & Gate Baby Food today - they are sending me some packaging so I can return it to them to investigate. I guess that this is probably from a piece of machinery, its probably no ones fault - however it shouldn't have been there and I am thankful my baby didn't swallow it. That said they have said they will look into it so hopefully it won't happen to anyone else.[size=-2]Remember its nice to be nice and its good to share!

As Tesco are recalling a load of their fairy lights because of the risk of electrocution, just don't plug the tree in............
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
Is it confirmed that it is glass in the pie? The previous thread mentioned plastic or glass.0

I spotted a foreign body in a tesco own brand product - I saw it before I even opened it so was still sealed inside for the world to see.
I rang their customer services who took details and refunded immediately back onto my card (was with a home delivery order)
They asked if I could return item to store but that would have been hassle (20min each way) so they agreed I could take it into the little Tesco close by.
The manager in store completed a form and explained that it may be awhile before I hear back but that I would get a letter
Having worked in food industry my experience was that foreign bodies and offending product are normally sent to the supplier who is then expected to carry out analysis and investigation - write back to Store and sometimes direct to customer. This is not always a quick thing but stores and food manufacturers normally investigate these things with view to prevent recurrence as they have duty of care under Food Safety Act etc.
Stores and suppliers are unable to escalate claims and investigations though without the product packaging and foreign body. Tesco will I am sure take be concerned but they need the glass and pie.
One thing we had to do if we were ever to receive a glass complaint (once ever in the years I worked in one place) is to send the glass off for analysis. Fodd manufacturers operate strict policy for glass and hard plastics to prevent contamination. The glass wil be examined to see what type of glass it is etc.
(In the case I had to have investigated the glass turned out to be a piece of domestic drinking glass which there were none on the premises).Baby Milk Action is a non-profit organisation which aims to save lives and to end the avoidable suffering caused by inappropriate infant feeding.0 -
I found something strange in a Tescos meat pie once and complained.
They apologised and agreed to launch an immediate investigation into how the meat got in there. :rotfl:Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0
