I'm looking at putting some of our lights and storage heaters onto Timers, lights come on in the afternoon, storage heaters at night etc.
I just wondered how much electric the timer unit itself uses, and will it make a big difference to my electric bill
Any help much appreciated

the analogue (round dial) ones, power one small motor, very small amount. The digital ones (lcd display) nearly/completely nothing*
*depending if they use their own battery as backup or main source.
They should always save money swiching things off, not cost you more!0 -
They use so little power it is not even worth thinking about. Probably a watt or two at most. In other words, a dozen of them will still use less juice in total than one small light bulb.
They should make a big difference to you electricity bill as it should go down as they will help you reduce your overall usage though I am not sure how long it will take to save enough money to cover their costs.0 -
There is some value in a home appearing occupied when everyone is out though. Lights, radio etc.0
