    What is the full model number of your machine. I'll see if I have a suitable disc at hand.

    Logitech Desktop Messenger has to go. :)

    I like the idea of a clean install and full update.

    a lot of pc's have a factory restore partition, so you don't necessarily need a windows disc to do a reinstall, but need to backup data first

    what are your ie connection settings, ie, tools, internet options, connections

    uninstall the logitech desktop messenger if you don't use it

    who is your isp, and how do you connect to the net, via a netgear usb wireless adapter connected to a router?

    look at the hijackthis log, and post which of the things beginning with O4 you don't use at all, and which you don't need running at startup
