Eon, next years estimated usage wrong.

For the past 5 years my average yearly electricity usage has varied between 3880 and 4260 kWh and my gas between 17,500 (was on holiday in the winter that year) and 21,000 kWh.

So why has Eon estimated I will use , in the coming year, 5816 kWh of electricity and 17,384 kWh of gas?

At least I got my 9 kWh of electricity refunded:j.

Over the last few years has your gas usage been dropping and the electric increasing? If the variation is random then the estimates make no sense, but if they're expecting an existing trend to continue then they do

    Hi Ron

Are the estimates taken from the Key Facts on your latest bill?

If they are, they will be based on usage over the past 12 months.

Have we been billing to estimated meter readings? If we have, there may be a blip if we've over estimated. Should this be the case, please let us have up to date readings and the usage can be re-assessed accurately.

Sorry this is a bit vague Ron but not sure where the figures are coming from. Let me know if I can help further as happy to do so.

Actual readings not estimated for bills.

    From my bill.
    Key Facts
    Your energy
How much energy do you estimate I will use in the next 12 months?
    Electricity f 5,816kWh used at a cost of £548.00

    Gas f 17,384kWh used at a cost of £484.00
see your statement for how we worked these figures out.

    In actual fact

From my bill On June 30 2010 when my bill was produced my gas meter reading was 11846
and on June 28 2011 my gas meter reading was 13490 (M3)

Similarly my electricity meter reading was 10753 and when my meter was changed it was 14811 new meter 9 then 210

The June 2010 bill was more accurate.

    Hi Ron

The Key Facts outline our expectations of what energy we estimate you'll use over the next 12 months. This is based on the previous 12 months usage.

This assessment is done at the annual review in the spring.

If I've interpreted your figures correctly, I'd say we've over estimated your electricity and under estimated the gas. However, we may have used different dates to base the figures on and this may have given the varying results.

I'm speculating, though. Give us a call to see how we've come to these figures. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer; I'll be happy to take a look for you.
