Top Marks to Bridgestone Tyres
Recently we had an unusual problem with the Audi. A strange vibration was coming through the whole car. I thought I had lost a weight from a back tyre so I took it to Kwik Fit and they were horrified at the state of the tyre and showed me. The tyre was twisted and distended at various parts of the tyrewall and even on the tread at one point (which accounted for the vibration).
As the tyre had less the 10,000 miles on it I contacted Bridgestone. They sent an inspector over 100 miles to examine it (a delightful man) and he concluded that the tyre was faulty and arranged a free replacement.
The cost of these tyres is horrendous (low profile, high performance) so you can imagine my relief. It's got me to thinking though - how many times have I changed a faulty tyre in the past without thinking of contacting the manufacturer to check the warranty.
I hope my experience will prove useful to someone else.
