Hi
My son has this laptop and it has been a very good one.
However he needed to restore back to factory settings. We had burned the discs when new and put away safely.
He put in disc 1 and then 2 no probelm but it wont go past disc 3 just says press any key as it didnt work we have tried several times but it stops in the same place at 5 of 9 in the process.
When turn it back on it has the bootmgr is missing please press ctl alt del - but this just turns it off.
Any ideas what i can do or where i can get a recovery disc - i cant acees anything else on the laptop as checking on the net they say to press some other stuff but its not there just the bmg is missing.
Thanks

Don't order those discs.
It should still have the Recovery Partition regardless of the discs.

You are possibly hitting F8 too late.0 -

Hi its impossible to to the F8.
The f12 gives me the set up light blue screen thing. No command prompt either.
No real options here just means i could change to the cd / dvd boot first. Which i have done and downloaded a disc from here: http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/download-windows-vista-x64-recovery-disc/
It downloaded the 32 bit one.
I can now get to the point of the laptop running this but there is no operating system it says to install disc with drivers?? i thought this would have been on the recovery disc.
Does anyone know if i can download them for this Toshiba Satellite L500 11V laptop?
if so is it ok to take out the recovery disc and put in the driver disc?
Also can i download the drivers straight to a disc as i dont want to damage my sony by trying to install toshiba stuff.
Thanks very much for any helpUpdating .................................................

OK - follow the instructions in this link:

Thanks just tried but didnt work

Not sure if the problem is because initially it would only load 2 and three quarters of the 4 discs and so the extra info is on the last 1 and a quart disc.
In doing the command prompt it says: Total identified windows installations : 0
Also running on Vista i think if that makes any difference?Updating .................................................
