Built in car stereo FIAT MAREA

Hello,
I have a built in car stereo (tape, not CD) in my FIAT MAREA.
The tape has got stuck in and won't come out. So, I am thinking that rather than pay someone to fix it, I might as well pay them to put in a new stereo (with CD).
My only worry is that it is a built in stereo. Is this a problem? Do places like Halfords swap built in stereos over for standard CD car stereos? Or would I have to take it to a Fiat garage or something?
Cheers in advance!
Duncan

depending on the type of built in stereo, you may need a fascia adaptor....if the built in unit is larger than a usual head unit then you'll need an adaptor - halfrauds usually sells them.
As for fitting, if your buying from halfords, some of their units come with free fitting. obviously if you think you can fit it yourself then its probably better to buy online (cheaper), but if you dont know anything then obviously try get one with free fitting. mine was fitted my halfords, and needed an adapter cos my car was so old, so be aware there may be an extra cost.
your local garage my be able to fit one for you at a lowr cost if you do decide to buy online
hope that helps

Thanks Tom.
I'll take the car down to Halfords after the Xmas madness!?

You need an FP-01-00 face plate. You may also need a wiring harness and aerial adaptor depending on the make of unit you purchase.0
