& i'm sorry to say, but i've said it before, i think it's rude to point out a mistake/typo/ on the forum when someone has been out to get/paid for the mag/done the puzzle/s/& spent the time posting,
it's so much nicer/respected to recieve a pm politely asking if the details are correct & a pm would reach the op quicker if they were busy trying to catch up comps they've missed while doing these for others,
sorry, but, that's what i think xx

IMO, I don't think it's rude at all. It simply depends on how it's worded. What happens if the OP don't log on for a couple of days? More people enter with the incorrect details. That's what I think ;)

hi, then if the op didn't log in/come on here for a couple of days they wouldn't see the posting asking anyway surely ?
so therefore it would stay with the same details,
i'm quite sure that the majority of posters on here who post the postal/mag comps log in & oddies is one of them as she's just very kindly offered to post a lot of the comps i've been posting on here
for us all as i've not been having time to do them,
if an op has posted a comp then doesn't log in/browse/lurk but see's a reply to thier posting i would think they would log in straight away & then the pm would alert them to the reply,

  • hi susan1375, just amended text number, they changed it and i did not see it as it's in tiny writing.. huge sorry to all who entered before amendment
hi oddies, please forgive me bumping/replying,
but you have nothing to apologise for imho

Was there any need to imply that I was rude by pointing out the error???? I posted to warn others who may have entered before Oddies logged back on. In the post I certainly didnot criticise him/her or come accross as rude (hopefully). Next time I will just keep quiet and let people waste their money.

did i say your name/copy/paste your post ? no, i didn't & i certainly did not say you had critcised anyone,
i was stating what i've always said, i do think it's rude to point out any errors, we all make typo's/mistakes etc, when ops spend a lot of time reading through the mags/checking details etc i still say it's politer to pm & ask,
the ops can only post/type out the best they can & peeps can always (if they don't get a reply) check in the mags themselves
    for entry/details.

yep, exactly, they could always go check/get the mag/ or
log into other comp sites to find out, take responsibility for thier own comping entries instead of pointing out errors
    as you say 7.gif

Sorry to bump just wanted to say that i disagree that its ruude to correct someone when they have made an error. I would have thought that the person/persons would be greatful that someone had taken the time to notify them that there is an error.

As for the suggestion of pming the person rather than doing it here, i think thats totally ridiculous. I appreciate that people take alot of time and effort and they go out and buy the magazines papers etc but you dont own the competitions for goodness sake.

You should be greatful that someone actually takes the time to tell you about an error. I fail to see how its rude. I see it as being helpful myself. The behaviour on here at times regarding people being upset because someone corrected them on an error etc etc is ridiculous to be honest.
