Nearly choked on Tesco sandwich

I'm wondering what you guys would do if you were me.
I bought a chicken and bacon sandwich from Tesco today (their Finest range) and I nearly choked on it as it had a nearly 2" chicken bone in it which I didn't see before I started eating the sandwich and only noticed when the bone got stuck in my throat.
I was going to throw the bone away but my office collegues told me to keep the packaging and the bone and complain to Tesco.
So now, how do I go about complaing? Shall I write to the customer services and send the "offending" bone along or shall I take it back to the store I purchased the sandwich in?
What is the likely outcome? Will I get an apology or shall I be cheaky and ask for some kind of "compensation"?
Any comments will be greatly appreciated

It's best to regret things you have done rather than those you have not...

Take it back to the store and ask them to investigate. In fact, you may not even need to ask them they should straightaway set the ball rolling. They should give you a receipt for the bone, the name of the CS person that deals with you and they will bag it up and send it away to their supplier to investigate what has gone wrong in production.
I was told it would take six weeks for them to investigate the insect in my spinach. In less than two I had an apology, an explanation of what had gone wrong and what would be done and a money card.0 -
Does it not say on packet may contain bones or care has been taken to remove all bones and the likes? While I breathe.... I hope0

I agree with bossyboots.
I had to take a pack of meat back to a supermarket once because there were flies on the inside of the packaging (still gag at the thought). However, they offered to give me two new packs of meat (politely declined) or £20 worth of vouchers - I took the vouchers, however, they did do an investigation and we got a full apology as well.0 -

I don't understand your sarcasm. I can only presume that when you eat chicken sandwiches you wouldn't mind a bone here in there in it. I on the hand don't eat bones; in fact I believe that even dogs can't eat them as they're too dangerous for them being too brittle...It's best to regret things you have done rather than those you have not...0 -
Chicken has bones in. Nothing is 100% perfect so occasionally the odd bone might end up in a sandwich.
If it had happened to me, I would have just chucked the bone away and not thought anything more about it. It would never have crossed my mind to try and claim compensation from Tesco for something that might have happened with the bone.
There has been no harm done and it's a fact of life that a chicken sandwich might contain bones. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Over 2 days now & Tesco still haven't contacted me, mind you as of yesterday evening they hadn't even bothered to respond to the environmental health. They may have responded to them today, but still not too me.
Mind you, Tesco might not have been concerned but the reporter, photographer & environmental health were.

I agree with Becles. Chicken sandwiches are quite likely to occasionally have a piece of chicken bone in them. Have you checked the package for warnings?
How did you not notice a large bone before you swallowed? Surely you would have noticed the bone as soon as you bit or chewed on the sandwich.
You should perhaps just be grateful that you did not suffer a serious injury or worse. You might get an apology or some small compensation from Tesco but is it really worth the effort?
Glass or other foreign objects would warrant a complaint but not a chicken bone.0 -
