I purchased 2 android tablets a 4 months ago from TJ Hughes as they were on offer and put them away for my sister and husbands birthdays this month. Well they both had them a week and they are so bad they have to go back. The battery life is 20 mins, they won't play mp4 format which they are meant to as well as another list of probs. I phoned the manufacture as the box says a 1 year warrenty they said to return to the shop i purchased it from for a refund.
I phoned TJ Hughes last week to arrange a return and refund. which they arranged collection for today BUT they never came so rang again and they have told me to post it myself and they will refund the costs of postage.
1 - the company has gone into recievership so do I trust this and just post them?
2- the blinking website has gone down and i stupidly didn't print out the invoice it was on my login on the site grrrrrrrrr how do i get this back.
3- will I get a refund?
4- They cost £260 will my visa cover me? and how do i go about that claim?
sorry lots of questions

You should be covered by your card.
Before you go through the hassle of returning, just try to make sure that the issues you've got are not solvable tech issues. This means you'll have to google the exact problem, get on the forums and post your problems (like here), and see what solutions there are - more than likely someone else has had the same problem for which there is a fix, or find a man who can. It may just be a driver update you need.
Good luck!0 -
Have you looked through the stickies at the top of this forum? If you haven't...have a look.0

Thanks
we did this but it seems this is a common problem with these tablets hence why the manufacturer said just for a refund. I really should leave tech purchases to my husband:happyhear YUMMY MUMMY TO HENRY BEAR AGED 10:happyhearslimming world need to get back to target 25lb to goDisney World here we come May 2018:j0 -

All successful website orders will be sent a confirmation email shortly after the order has been placed. Please note that your order will be confirmed as accepted once despatched from our distribution centre. A further email will be sent to you confirming that this has been done.
Check your email, including the spam folder. You might find one.
Maybe they sent an email invoice too.
That might be useful documentation, together with your card/bank statement.0 -

Have a read of MSE's Section 75 Refund article.
Debit card?
The VISA chargeback scheme may help.
There's a bit at the bottom of that S75 Refunds article about debit cards.0 -
Just an update on the situation. I spoke to a lovely man at customer services ( I hope he doesn't suffer too much as the company goes under - we forget how it affects them when all we want is our refunds)
He told me I had to send the items back but before I do he will email me.
I thought this was strange.
in the email he included a copy of my invoice and told us NOT to send it back because I would have to claim via the administrators and it could take over a year (and the rest look at bloody farepak - yes I got stuck in that too:mad:) and it would be best to go via the credit card company. He also sent an email to confirm I had requested a refund prior to June 30th.:happyhear YUMMY MUMMY TO HENRY BEAR AGED 10:happyhearslimming world need to get back to target 25lb to goDisney World here we come May 2018:j0 -

Pretty much what I said... but it's always good to get confirmation of suggestions made on a forum.0 -
Make the claim with your bank as soon as you can0

My Sis in Law went through 2 of these tablets at Xmas, the cheaper ones (although £130 isn't cheap IYSWIM) tend to be quite crap.
The late Freddie Snowbits on here summed it up fairly well when he said you don't buy a Mini and expect a Rolls Royce and its a fairly accurate description of these tabs. Have you tried the usual updating to the latest version of Android etc?
Good luck with your refund anyway0
