Shoes fallen apart.. no receipt.

Options
Hello,
Wondered if anyone can help me, as I can't find quite the right info on the site.

I bought some sandals for £28 two weeks ago from Office. I paid £15 on gift card and £13 on my debit card. Just over a week on, I noticed the stitching was bursting and the sandals were about to fall apart.

I don't have the receipt (you probably think I'm foolish... I only keep receipts if I think I might take something back) and my bank statement shows the transaction as £13.

I don't want an exchange (I've had past experience of Office shoes falling apart so think it might happen again) I want a full refund. The sandals are still £28.

Does my bank statement count as proof of purchase and entitle me to £28 (£15 of which I'm assuming would be in gift card form)?

You can try, it would really be up to the manager in the shop, maybe the sales assistant might remember you with the voucher.
Take your bank statement with you.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I think Mcneff is right. Give it a go and take paperwork with you.
Also wiggle your lip...that's always a winner :)
    Good luck

My advice is keep all receipts...your comment that you only keep receipts for items you may take back is not credible.

Not credible, but how most people live their lives? I'm a hoarder by nature, but keeping receipts for everything I ever buy seems a bit extreme!

Still, the lesson I've learned here is always keep receipts when I buy something from Office :)

Thanks for the advice everyone, I'm going to see what happens when I return them.

I've just realised that I bought a pair of shoes on a UK credit card in Italy last October. They fell apart within 3 months - would I have a claim against the credit card company as I can't return them to Italy.
