not sure if this is the right thread but my daughter works for jane norman,(only 4 hours a week), she has not yet recieved her pay that is owed to her today, she works in a concession in a house of fraser store, so as yet this one hasnt been closed down, she has been asked to work as normal sunday,( although she may get further info tomorrow on whether her store is staying open,) so my question is will she get paid as she has had no money paid into her bank today , and it is her normal payday ?and if not is there any way of claimimg the money she is owed ?thanks

I always thought that once under administration, she is more likely to get paid than in the days just prior....0

AIUI, anything she is owed from prior to the stores going to administration will be treated along with all the other unsecured creditors who will get very little (perhaps 10% of what she is owed).
Any work she does for the administrators should be paid. I'd be looking at trying to get paid in cash at the end of each day though.
It is illegal for her to take goods in respect of what she is owed. It is also very common.0 -

I am not sure why this is here becasue I can't see the OP asked about this. Other than to riase this as a "suggestion"? And yes, quite correctly, it is illegal - it is theft. It is not actually "very common" because most people recognise that theft is a criminal offence. But it is very common for employers to involve the police when people steal from them, so if it is a "suggestion", it is a very silly one.
House of Fraser routinely monitor and search staff for theft. They always involve the police.
The rest of this is equally silly (and wrong). Staff wages are not treated as unsecured creditors - they are actually preferred creditors and will be the first in line to be paid. And if it is possible to make the payment they will receive everything owed, not a percentage. And administrators do not run around delivering wages in cash at the end of the day.
OP, she needs to turn up to work as instructed, and speak to the admnistrators about how this will be handeled. If the company cannot pay what moneies are due there is a government scheme which will do so - it does have a cap at a maximum wage but I doubt your daughter earns more than this. Until such time as she is told otherwise she is still in employment and must abide by instructions - otherwise she is deemed to have resigned. I am afraid that these things do take some time to sort out, and this will be especailly true since the administrators are dealing with a dispersed workforce who are harder to communicate with.0 -
thanks for all your help, just to put the record straight i have no where suggested that she takes goods in leiu of money owing to her, we have taught her right from wrong, she has been told she may get a percentage of her wages on monday, so fingesr crossed0

i worked in the debenhams concession in lakeside i worked 38hrs a week and did not recieve my pay. constantly we was dealing with rude customers which caused great levels of stress to all the staff - sum who broke down crying due to no high management or administrators briefing us about the situation or our job status's i think its disgusting how jane norman has treated their staff and not bothered to pay the people who committed the time and effort for the company 38hrs a week was a lot for me and alot of money to miss out on. i am attending a tribunal hearing to get my money back. i dont know how they can treat people like that especially people who have bills to pay and getting in debt cos of it!! x x0 -

Given that Jane Norman only went into Administration a week ago, it is a bit soon to be talking of tribunal claims. Either outstanding wages will be paid out by the administrators, or the Government Scheme will step in.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
