Netbook with iTunes??

A friend of mine has just acquired an iPhone and wants to use iTunes for her music.
She is thinking of buying a netbook for this. Where possible she has a budget of £250.
I have suggested a cheap netbook plus an external hard drive to hold the music files.
Any ideas whether a netbook would be sufficient? If so which one?

I would suggest some back-up for ITunes as I don't think you can re-download music n videos again if the worse happens.
Apps are stored in the clouds so can be re-downloaded for free.
I've put my music n videos on DVD and ex hdd. (only learnt the lesson when my computer went belly-up, luckily ITunes allowed me to re-download them once)
