Hello everyone,

I'm thinking of getting a new doorbell and have seen this one at Argos

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6237389.htm?docname=

Reviews look good. Some of them say that it has multiple melodies whereas the description says it has only 1 ??

Just wondering if anyone has this bell and let me know if it has multiple melodies or just the one. Are there any recommendations for a good doorbell? Thank you, much appreciated :)

We had a wireless one on our front door that had several melodies. However, it didn't matter what tune we had it set to as it would play what ever tune it wanted. At any time it wanted. also, when someone was actually at the door pressing the bell, the thing didnt make a sound.

It turned out to be interference from something like a neighbours door bell or the old peoples flats at the back of our house with intercoms.

We have been through two wireless door bells. The first one went off with full Westminster chimes (even though we were on different setting) every time someone pressed our neighbours door bell!

The second one, used to use the batteries every second time the door bell was used!

I bought a Siemens mp3 one last week where you download your own ring onto it.

There I was thinking of a burst of paradise city, or a bit of Zippy from Rainbow and off I go leave the wife to sort it out and come back to the bing bong boo song from peppa pig.

    That will teach me...............

I have that one from Argos - it works fine but does only have one melody.

  • We've been through so many door bells! Not brought this one but I'd check to see if any of the reviews are from anyone who has owned the door bell for a while. That way you get an honest opinion and see how long it's likely to last.

Just brought a Friedland bell that cost a fortune. May save us money in the long run though!

Must add that it doesn't matter how many different chimes the bell has, you will probably only ever use one.

That sounds pretty cool - the fact that you can download your own tune - not the tune you have!!

We have a plug in wireless Lindham that works perfectly and has done for 5 years. Think it cost about £6. It also has 4 different frequencies which it will work on.

Only has 1 tone and 2 volume settings - normal or loud.

This thread is reminding me of that OFAH and Simpsons episodes where they get so chuffed about having "unique" tones!!

I know that you can get wireless bells on Ebay that may be more fancy and cheaper.
