    Hi joyfull

Thanks for your reply, you're right I am compassionate and such (want to be either a nurse or a teacher in future years :)) but I cry at stupid things and that's when it becomes embarrassing, I will ask the doctor about the cbt thing and hopefully they can sort me out!

I truly believe that some people are born or raised with 'thin skins' and feel and respond to stress and pain around them in a heightened fashion.

That said you can't always know how other people feel, it's so easy to assume that other people are coping well, deal with knocks and never have a sleepless night. Other people may be struggling too, that's not to deny in the slightest how you feel. just that be reassured you're most definitely not the only one having problems.

Do ASK for help, that goes against the grain for most of us, but you'd be surprised how much help and reassurance you may get in response.

Meantime all I can offer is the generalised hugs and kisses of a thin skinned weeper. XX

Thanks Armchair, I feel a bit more normal now! Yeah you're right, people put on a brave face to get through the day where as people like us don't bother with the brave face and can't help ourselves!

I will go to the doctors though just to make sure there's nothing horrid lurking beneath!

I have a lot of friends with severe anxiety and they get a lot more in a state than me so I guess it could be worse!

    Thanks again guys

I think CBT would help. It would help you see that your thoughts are triggering the emotions and that many of the thoughts are mistaken and simply not logical. It will help you to see that your thoughts are fooling you, triggering an over-reaction.

This is a good website for anxiety:

    http://www.anxietynetwork.com/gahome.html

    These books are great:

Feeling Good New Mood Therapy (Dr David Burns)
Stop Thinking Start living (Richard Carllson)
    The Worry Cure (R Leahy)
Self Help for Your Nerves (Dr Claire Weeks)
Anxiety and Phobia Workbook (Dr E Bourne)

CBT exercises like writing down your automatic negative thought and then writing a rational response can be really helpful. There are many errors which we make when thinking that lead us to have emotions like anxiety, guilt, worthlessness. Often our thoughts are simply wrong. By learning to challenge our negative thinking we can start to see the world as it really is - without seeing it with all the imagined negative spin we put on everything that happens and is said to us.

On the other hand I've found a website called Moodscope helpful.

Hope something in this post helps.

:T Thanks for this littlestar1981. I signed up to this a few days ago when I saw your post and I thinks it's fab. The daily emails are interesting and so far have been raising really relevant points for me. I'm hooked :)

Yep I cry at happy things too. Cry at the thought of how other people must feel when they have something horrid happen to them. Cry at the thought of losing my bf even though we are really happy together. Cry at the disappointment if something doesn't go the way I planned so yeah I pretty much cry at EVERYTHING! Lol! Xxx

rdchick i am exactly the same! i cry all the time at everything! I have to say though i was worse at your age than i am now (27) as i think i have learnt a bit better how to deal with things, like how to deal with things people say which might upset me. Some things really still get to me though and i am a real worrier! i worry if i don't speak to my friends for a period of time, worry they don't like me, worry about work, worry other people don't like me etc etc and if i feel i've done or said something wrong it really plays on my mind (i think for me this stems from being bullied at school which led to depression) but the best thing you can do is speak to someone about it. Now when i worry i speak to my boyfriend and he puts my thoughts in order for me as he sees things very black and white and it really helps stop me worrying! Definatly go and see your doctor though as it won't hurt speaking to them about it, but like someone has already said definatly write everything down as i can guarentee that when you start talking about it all you will start crying, it just can't be helped because you're talking about your feelings!

Good luck and don't think you're alone in it because a fair few people feel the same :-) xxx

    Hi Lisa

I am so glad I am not alone!! I am not so much a worrier but I am more of a person who doesn't do/say stuff for fear of the come backs which means I often get walked all over or I don't explain my true feelings. My BF is very good but gets frustrated when I can't tell him what I mean. I hate comfrontation, hate having someone argue their point at me. I am the sort of person that just backs down and let's the other person think they're right - anything for an easy life!!

I do think I should go to the doc- I think I need a wellbeing check up.

I am also wondering if diet has anything to go by and also being on the Pill - my hormones are all over the place as in my skin is rubbish on my face - I get some pretty painful lumps under my jawline and I get very emotional before the time of the month so I should probably change it - have before but it bloated me out which was really horrid so I went back to the same one I was on - maybe need the jab or something - I DUNNO!! lol

Anyhoo, thanks for being awesome and completely understanding what I am going through. I will call the docs first thing and see if I can get an appointment :)
