Took some keys off to clean the thing and now is very unresponsive. It is 7 years old so doesn't owe me anything.
Am thinking of getting a wireless one are there any problems with them or will the wired ones be better. Any help as regards make etc would be appreciated. Don't want anything to technical, cheap and efficient please.:D

Logitech make some very good wireless keyboards and keyboard/mouse combinations. I've had one for around 4 years and it's still working fine.

Yup! Gotta agree there. I've had a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combo (EX110), for a fair while now. No problems, regular updates for "setpoint", easy set up too.
