PVC door/lock problems!

Hello,
My niece and nephew hung off my front door last week and broke the springs inside the handle. I have ordered a replacement spring cassette to fix this, however on Monday morning when I went out to work and tried to lock the door from the outside, I pushed the handle up and turned the key to lock it but the key would only turn 3/4 of the way round.
I opened the door and tried again and the lock comes out but the key will not finish its locking process in order for the key to come out. I tried locking it from the inside and managed to get the door to lock by pulling the handle up again once I had started turning the key. It then finished locking and the key came out.
Does anyone know why I could be having this problem with the front door? Could it be from it being hung on? And does anyone know how I can fix it myself?
Any help or advise will be much appreciated
Rach

If too much force has been applied to the handles the gearbox mechanism may have been damaged or the euro lock may have moved slightly out of alignment.
Look down the edge of the door and you will see a screw that is in line with the bottom of the euro lock, release the screw a few turns then move the lock in or out, re-tighten then try to lock the door. If it does not work one way, try moving the lock the other way.
If that does not work, you would have to remove the gearbox, check it for any visual signs of damage etc.
