Thanks again.
We don't have anywhere else to go except my brothers flat,we have a 4 year old,2 year old twins and expecting a baby in less then 3 months. Our life was perfect before all this happened, but unfortunately there is no help for home owners and once you loose your job, even for a short while it messes everything up and it's hard to get out of it. If we had rented privately we would have everything paid for,but with £700 going on mortgage every month it's just not doable - and of course our mortgage lender doesn't do 'holiday' payments etc so whenever we miss a payment it gets worse and worse.
The lady at the council seemed really sympathetic and they are willing to help, they said to keep in touch with them and once we get an eviction date,we will be homeless (i feel ashamed even writing this,i can't believe our life has come to this) i told her about staying with family and she said we will still be classed as homeless because that's like 'sofa surfing' (i feel sick to my stomach even thinking about it) we are not expecting a property right away, and we will only have max 3 weeks to evict the house so that is our only option.
As soon as my partner finds work (self-employed glazier) we will look into private renting, but to claim housing benefit and everything else on top is not for us,at least not until we can avoid it.
I'm really hoping our situation improves within the next 2 months,so we can get sorted out either way before the baby comes.
I know it's the best solution for our family to NOT have a mortgage, but it's so depressing.

Ohh sorry, forgot to mention that CAB works with the LA and can be link to obtaining help under the various mortgage rescue schemes. There are funds to prevent repossession and schemes such us a housing association buying your property and you renting it back. There are lots of options out there but you need some professional advice. Once you have more than one option (ie repossession) you will feel a bit better in this awful situation.
We have looked into everything and it's just not worth it. They would buy it for less (it's in negative equity) and rent it back to us for 20% less then market price. It would still be rented accommodation and once we get our heads around all this we will probably end up renting anyway. Getting out of this vicious circle and starting all over again is what's the best for us i think. I think we'll feel relieved once the mortgage cloud dissapears and as hard as it is now,we'll manage somehow because we have to,we have three children and will do what's best for them. I guess i just wanted to know if there was any point in waiting for a council house..
thanks everyone0 -
DO NOT go into private rented accomodation.. trust me this is not a good idea. You will get stuck there and if you have problems paying rent again you will be evicted causing more unheaval
What your family needs is security and private renting will not give you that.
Get your eviction dates do not say you can move in with your brother (I saw a documentary and a family had about 12 people living in a 3 bedroomed house for years) and they will find you a nice place.
Dont feel bad. You have tried your hardest to make things work and you have just been unlucky like we all can be. This Country can look after its people and the system was designed to help out hardworking people just like you so dont you feel bad for one second. Relax and all will be fine.

Thank you so much,it really means a lot not to be judged and to have someone say something kind.
I feel completely lost,i feel like all this is happening to someone else and i'm just trying to help with all the info and everything ..and then it hits me that it's all for me and MY family.I feel heartbroken, especially as we invested a lot of money into our home, and it was perfect for us ..but i guess life can turn around pretty quick and these things can and do happen.
thanks again everyone0
