I'm currently living at home with my parents but I've just been told today that i have until the end of July to find a place as my dad wants me out. I've not got any close friends that i could stay with (they either live at home, or have their own families/children) and my partner's just moved back to his parents due to being in financial difficulty (i couldn't move with him as he has a small office room that's not even big enough for him, let alone the both of us.).
Private renting's not really an option as I'm currently suffering from depression/anxiety and am out of work.
I've contacted all local housing associations for application forms, and emailed my local council asking for any advice regarding this issue. (I know i should phone/visit their offices but i'm in no fit state atm to speak to anyone in person).
I don't have much of a clue, with all this stuff, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your father wants you out that badly (nice dad!) perhaps he could be persuaded to give you some financial help to finance a move?0

My dad's never been the type of person to help me with anything, financial or otherwise. He wouldn't care if i was homeless, living on the streets!0 -
How old are you and do you have any savings of your own?0

The reason we need to know your age is that if you are 16 or 17 then social services will 'look after' you, if you're on JSA/ ESA and aged 18-24 years inclusive you will get the 'shared room rate' via Housing Benefits, if you're 25 years or older and receiving JSA/ ESA (soon to be 35 years mind you) then you'll get the 1 bed rate via Housing Benefits. Housing Benefits is designed to help you rent at the lower end of the privately rented market if you are in receipt of certain means tested benefits or otherwise on a low income. Though you may need a bond/ deposit you might get help with this via your local council or possibly through another agency/ charity depending on your circumstances and location.
Alternatively you can throw yourself at the mercy of your local Council's housing aid/ housing advice/ homelessness/ housing options centre who might (at best) find you a space at a (godforsaken) homeless hostel - or more likely fob you off - so there's a lot to be said for trying really hard to obtain lodgings or other privately rented accommodation before the end of July. Have a browse at the relevant Shelter website (there's one for each country in the UK) to see how grim things generally are.....0 -
If you are suffering from depression, have you seen your GP and or Mind?
Do you know why your dad wants you out of the house? Please feel free not to answer this question on a public forum. Once known, might you or someone acting on your behalf be able to persuade him to change his decision.0 -
It might also be worth asking your GP for a referral to the community mental health team, who would be able to provide you with a support worker to assist you.0
