I found an ad for a flat which has "PMA Certificate Not Signed" written across the photo. I can't find anything about it on the internet - does anyone know what it means? I'm guessing it's not a good thing....

Did you try Google?
I put "PMA Certificate" in and got loads of hits!0 -
Yes, I did try google, thanks. The results I got were from the Pacific Maritime Association, this from yahoo "a pma is a forgein investment company ~(a company owned and run by foreigners) that allows foreigners to buy property. the property is held in the companies name and not that of the individual, for 25 years, it is then upto the government to renew the deeds, this means that foreigners can purchase property in countries such as indonesia where it is forbidden for foreginers to own property.
so without knowing any more info its difficult to say in what it means ie what context is it written," and all the estate agent adverts that have the same phrase listed (with no explanation of what it means).
Since I'm looking in Sussex and not Indonesia I didn't think the yahoo answer applied. What results did you get?0 -
What country is the property in?
Have you contacted the agents - they probobly list a phone number on the advert. If you don't have a phone, you can find public ones in most High Streets.0 -
PMA Pre Market Approval certificate: Estate Agents send the property sales details to the seller to check and sign and return to Agent to say everything in the sales particulars is correct.
If the Seller doesn't sign the PMA certificate the details to sell the property might or might not be correct, mistakes can be made, e.g. windows/ doors missing in wrong place, measurements might not be correct, or something else might not be correct.
Details can still be wrong if the Seller hasn't checked properly but that is on the Sellers heads not the Agents.
Hope this helps.0 -
I'd have guessed at "Property Misdescriptions Act" TBH.
Any particular reason for bumping this from June, by the way?I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
