    Little update to circumstances.

I was able to reduce my credit limits straight away with no probs.

RBS is now £4k, Barclaycard is now £3k couldnt see how to reduce Virgin so it is still £5800

so that means my available credit is now £12,800. so hopefully that will be less imposing to a prospective credit application, and is more inline with the actual debt i have.

I will sort out an application to Post Office at the weekend and hopefully that will be me on my way to debt free (well credit cards) life.

Learned lesson the hard way about easy credit, but it was a good lesson and i got myself out of it.

Remember your credit files will not currently reflect your amended credit limits. This can take up to two months to filter through to your credit files.

Thats true, but when i9 applied for my RBS card last year, they only asked for me to put my limits in manually if i remember correctly.

But we will see, i am going to apply for the post office card today, hopefully i will be accepted and all will be well.

UPDATE: Got accepted for the postoffice card and initiated a balance transfer from the RBS card. I could only attach one BT when applying, no option for more, but it says i can phone them when i receive the card a 6 digit pin and do any BT's over the phone so can do that when i see what my credit limit is on the card.

then its a case of cancelling the empty cards and getting towards a debt free life.

    Huzzah and such :)

Santander is doing 17 months on BTs with a 3% fee - Barclaycard is 20 months with a 3.2% fee - that might be an easier alternative for you
