I'd suggest Belkin they havea lifetime guarantee which is worth morethan the product, i have installed 2 for friends who have ntl, I had a netgear and it went wrong 1 week after the guarantee ran out.

Just wondering why routers vary so much in price from £40 odd to £80. What is the difference between them?

Prices vary widely from store to store. You are better off choosing the model then looking for the cheapest place selling it currently.

The costs can reflect extra features that you may or may not need. For example, you may not need a 108 Mbps router if you are not interested in file sharing over a home network. If you are just sharing a broadband connection a 54 Mbps router will do the job equally as good. These routers are some of the best deals at the minute.

Some routers incorporate VOIP (voice over internet protocol) again if you don't need this feature it's pointless paying extra.

If you would consider B-grade, i.e a refurb, return, go here http://www.dsldepot.co.uk/index.asp? where I got my Speedtouch 585 v6 for £30 delivered.
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

I've got a belkin and a netgear. I've tried both. The netgear is currently residing in its box where it will remain!

Funny that most of your posts reference this site.
  • I use a Belkin Mimo G+ wireless router and it works great most days (is a bit fussy now and again but I think thats down to my ISP) and signal strength is great.
Think its on special at PC World at the mo + you get 6% cashback with Quidco.

A lot of ISP now offer free routers if you sign up to their broadband service.
