Outlook Error Message-any ideas?

"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk', Server: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR server closed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92"

I keep getting the above message when I go into Outlook, and a request for me to input username and password, which I do, correctly, but the boxshowing UN and PW just reappears on the screen. I'm wondering whether the "server" or something is "down" as this happened yesterday too, but hasn't happened before. Does anyone know what is causing this please? It just so happens that I'm waiting for an imprtant e mail-Sods Law I suppose....

If you haven't altered anything on your machine, the most likley answer is it is a problem at the server end. Either the mail server is down, or your particular account has been blocked in some way. Have you checked with Tiscali about any issues they may be having ?

Can you access your email online ?

try logging on to webmail, there could just be an issue with some of the mail servers (only some as mine is working fine...)

I had the same problem this morning. By registering on Money expert it actually somehow restarted my tiscali email! Or maybe it was just coincidence.

When this happens i switch off the modem/router for 30 seconds and switch it back on this creates a new ip address which normally sorts out the problem which is caused by your ISP.

I am a TalkTalk customer and no problems are occurring with my email when using outlook.

I've got the same think exactly, only with whatever mac call it.

Yesterday was able to access mail through the talktalk site, but today it is rejecting my password or username.

Spoke to Deepak in India, who said there is a problem with talktalk. he gave me this to use:
mail2web.com

Bit hit and miss, but I could get to mail.

My mac e-mail is not working - having to go through the talktalk website.

Can any mac users help me get mail back through the mac stamp icon, please?
