Lloyds to shed 15,000 more jobs

I do not understand how our retail banks can justify shedding domestic jobs
Far less mortgage activity. Remember Lloyds is required to shrink its share of total UK mortgage lending by the EU.
Also Lloyds isn't likely to be selling much PPI cover either.
Remember the boom years of Brown only really built jobs in 2 areas, financial services along with related property activity, and the public sector. Much of the rest was low paid service and retail sector jobs.0 -
In the past couple of years I had an eye-opener inside a bank. RBS/HBOS I think. Every member of staff is judged by their boss, including having a meeting - and gets a score of effort and a score of achievement.
The person has two scores; the person is in a department; the person is in a company. Huge lists of this.
Those scores are then sent forward to another office where people bring the two entirely different systems together, to come up with the big list of every member of staff and their effort and achievement.
This is then all put into a big spreadsheet ... and numbers are crunched. Then somebody spends about a week preparing a big presentation. Then some big cheeses turn up for a big cheese meeting - and they all go over the figures/presentation.
Then ..... they deliberately go back and fake the figures so the charts etc all show exactly what they're supposed to show. e.g. you can't have one department where everybody made a lot of effort and all achieved - as it's outside of the percentile range of what's expected... so the figures are faked.
All the figures are run again and all the presentations are faked again.
Then these are put forward as "the figures".
Total waste of time - and a full-time job for about a whole month for 2-3 people .... and I think they do it monthly.
I know this as I wrote all the complex formulae that brought it all together and worked out all the figures/variances, to come up with the figures for every person at every grade in every department, in every company .... so all the figures could be plucked out no matter which way they tried to cut the cake. Broke my heart when I saw them fake it and amend the scores the staff got. And those scores (faked) became part of their employment history.0
