Are you running XP with a login? Simply Control Alt Delete and select "Lock Computer"
  • or hit windows key + L :)

make sure you know your login password before you do this.
It'll stop casual browsers , but it wont stop people who have admin rights on the machine from logging you off. ( although they wont be able to access your session )
  • If you normally have a password to log in, you can configure the screen saver to return you to the welcome screen when cancelled.

You could also set your screen saver and tick the password protect option.
This will mean if you forget to lock it and walk away it will lock it automatically

No you will have to set a screensaver password.

  • If you use the method that I have mentioned, you are able to use the same password - its what I do at work.
