Can i do this ?

Options
I've got a Natwest advantage blue with Cheque book, CG debit card, But no credit facilities available.

I really do like natwest and there service as of late (I know alot of people have not liked them in the past), But i feel they have really changed throughout the last year and a half, And I'm very impressed.

I'm looking at opening a simple budgeting account, And would love to open one thats pretty much the same as my current account with natwest, I have 2 other accounts one with lloyds tsb and one with barclays, Both of which are ok, But are basic accounts.

I have a shot credit rating due to periods of unemployment in the past.

Would i be able to open up a basic current account with RBS along side my Natwest account or do they not allow this ?

Thanks !

    Yes you can open an RBS account.

    My friend had accounts with both.

    If you do open an RBS account I suggest you choose a Scottish branch to avoid becoming a Santander customer.

    Hi Michael

    Depending on what you intend using the account for why not either;

    1. Ask Nat-West If they will upgrade your main account and then open another Step Account as your "Budgeting" account.
    OR
    2. If you Just need an account with A Debit Card but not DD/SO open a Nat West First Reserve Account - technically its a savings account but it has its own Sort Code & Account to receive Faster Payments and has a Visa Debit Card with it, so its handy for budgeting.

    You'd be better off keeping an account outside of the RBS group, just in case something happens in the future you'll have another account to fall back on.

    RBS and Natwest are linked together at a technical level, and if they decided (for whatever reason) to close your account or take your money, they can do it from each other.
