BLT mortgage and non self contained flat

Options
There is a non self contained flat i am interested in (bathroom is on the doorway) and I am wondering whether that will make it more difficult for me to get a mortgage? A bit like flats on top of shops? Or do lenders dont care about non self contaioned?

thanks

I've never heard of a bathroom on a doorway. How does that work?

So this flat has no bathroom? Or lavatory? Do the deeds provide for right of access to a shared bathroom? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

To answer your question, I doubt you'd get a mortgage assuming the lender understood the set up.

I also seriously question whether this 'property' is separately registered: check with the Land Registry here.

If it's not self contained what is it?

Are you buying a bigger property with a "fake flat" in it?

    Sorry, obviously I meant BTL!
The bathroom is included in the lease (and in the register of the land registry) and no, I am not buying a bigger property with a "fake flat" in it!
One way you could look at it is to convert the flat into a self-contained flat (ie, put a new bathroom in) and use the actual bathroom as storage.
    Just wondering about raising finance...

Does the flat have "sole" use of the bathroom, or is it shared with another flat/shop within the property?

I don't understand the set-up. The lease includes a bathroom (which is mysteriously located "on a doorway").

In what respect is it not self-contained?

because you have to get out of the flat to get in the bathroom.

so anyone got any idea about whether this will be a problem for a mortgage?
talking to mortgage advisor tomorrow, i will report

How are the water & electric supplies to the separate bathroom routed?? Are there documented agreements giving you the right to, say, fix a break in the elctric cable under your (??) neighbours floor??

    All sounds most unworkable..

Mind you, I've a house I rent out with a separate (i.e. other people's land between the house and..) garage, but that's not so difficult...
