Convert Velux Loft to Dormer

Hi There

If I now convert the loft to simply a velux conversion, could I then in the future, convert the velux to a dormer without any significant change bar the dormer windows?

I understand that I would be wasting the velux windows/insulation/decor on the dormer side, but, it's simply a matter of cash flow that I'm considering this option

I would image you'd need planning permission.
There may be structural chnages to the roof construction aswell.
As I interpret your post, you havent converted the loft to velux yet, so ask the builder when he estimates for you.

using dormers will usually mean having to get some pp, it would also mean a lot more work including structural changes to the roof, so you'd lose a bit more than just the velux/decor when you want to change it, seems like you are already planning dormers so why not just install dormers?!?
