Nokia UK

Hi,

I would like to make an official complaint to Nokia UK regarding the lack of a firmware update for my mobile phone.

Does anyone know who is the Customer Services Director or the MD? Which address should I write to? They have a few UK addresses.

I do not seem to get any joy with the online email facility as they have not replied to my queries.

They have 0845 and 0870 phone systems and previously when I phoned them, apart from waiting ages to speak to someone I was told to get in contact with a Nokia Service Centre. They did not have any knowledge on the phone even though they are supposed to be a Customers Services team.

I am very angry that there has not been a firmware fix for my phone. Their are known issues with the original firmware and these have been fixed via the release of an upgrade. Due to different variants on the phone, one has not yet been released for 3 customers.

There also appears to be a loophole as the Network operators are not obliged to approve the release of an upgrade. My point is that the initial Nokia firmware is faulty meaning that the phone's capabilities do not function as they should. Therefore I and others should be entitled to a fix. Those with Generic SIM Free phones had the same problems and are capable of getting the upgrade. Vodaphone told its customers that they were not going to approve any new firmware but customers have been able to upgrade their phones as the product code is the same as SIM Free owners. However 3UK and O2 users have different product codes even though they have UK phones and so are unable to get an upgrade.

The problems are due to the basic code and not because of the additional firmware code requirements that the Networks request.

The latest news of the Nokia Website regarding firmware updates is dated the 24th November. That is nearly one month ago.

Why is it allowed that products can be sold that claim to offer particular capabilities but in reality these do not function properly.

A mobile phone these days is much more than a device for just making and receiving calls.

I do not know whether I have been right to post this here or whether it would have been better off in the Mobile Section of the forum.

its the same with sony ericsson firmware. s/e releases a generic version of firmware onto the se update service and to network operators, which if they approve of it, operators like orange and vodafone butcher it by customising the icons and software and then release it onto seus for us to flash onto the phone
