    I'm not really sure if it spins at all, I can hear light noises but I' not sure if that's the general processing-y noise or the fan, but it's not very loud, definitely not like it used to be. There's no grating or clicking noise so I assume the fan isn't catching. The power is connected properly. It is definitely overheating.
    Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:

    the power on the fan connector? the only way to check for sure whether it's spinning or not is to take it to pieces and have a look inside.

    try downloading one of the many free fan/temp monitoring progs, like i8kfangui or similar, they can tell you the speed of the fan (so if its not spinning when it should be ie when hot, it will show 0 rpm)
