can I avoid continuous payments

I was just about to change from the RAC to AA using quidco for cashback, and found that as I entered details on the AA website it only gave me three payment methods - all continuous payment.
Is there a way to avoid this form of payment.

No I dont think so, you just cancel at the end. You will get notification of your renewal in plenty of time so you can just cancel.

Possibly but they may charge you more. They hope you forget to cancel next year and they keep taking the
    money until you cancel it.

I had to phone the RAC because they were quoting silly prices. Only way they would discount is if i paid by direct debit
instead of a simple one off payment.

Choose annnual direct debit. Cancel it next month.

(Not a card payment, direct debit with sort code and account details)

After reading about some of the problems people have had cancelling these continuouis payments I phoned RAC last month, and it was changed from continuous payment. I'll do the same with AA.
The RAC renewal was £171.00, and that is just silly as AA is £99 plus £42 via quidco.
I expect the AA will be similar to the RAC after the first year. can I then go back to RAC and get on-line discount and possibly quidco cashback, or will the RAC know I am a previous customer.
